Roy Satterthwaite, Co-Founder and CEO, Bling Software Selected to Speak at CTIA WIRELESS 2008®
PLEASANTON, Calif., -- March 12, 2008 – Bling Software today announced that its Co-Founder and CEO, Roy Satterthwaite, has been selected to speak at CTIA WIRELESS 2008® taking place at the Las Vegas Convention Center, April 1-3.
Satterthwaite will participate in the educational session entitled Phonetop Widgets: The Next Gen Technology for User Interfaces, and will discuss the opportunities and challenges posed by bringing widgets to the phonetop. Satterthwaite will be joined by other leaders from the wireless industry, including moderator Tim Chang, Principal at Norwest Venture Partners, who will share insights and perspectives on the challenges that the wireless industry must meet today, as well as identify solutions that will set the stage for future developments in mobile communications.
CTIA’s Educational Sessions are the most comprehensive in the wireless industry. The in-depth sessions address the most important issues facing the broad wireless ecosystem, including IT professionals, software developers, media companies, technology enablers and, of course, wireless carriers and wireless equipment and services providers as they work together to develop and implement wireless products and services.
"This year’s educational sessions reflect key changes and trends in the burgeoning mobile technology and services space," said Robert Mesirow, vice president and show director of CTIA WIRELESS. "From consumer usage to professional applications and the important cross-section of ‘pro-sumers’, whoever your customer might be, there is a session dedicated to servicing them and understanding their mobile needs."
"Our educational program is structured to address the important issues facing businesses in the wireless industry today," added Mark Desautels, vice president and show educational program director of CTIA WIRELESS. "From building the networks and applications of the future, to transforming the wireless device into a productivity tool, to effectively marketing and educating the world on the capabilities of the mobile device – our team has developed a program that is focused on the informational needs of all of the industry’s participants after having evaluated more than a thousand submissions from experts on these topics. And we are most pleased that Bling Software has accepted our invitation to participate in our program."
"Widgets on the phonetop provide not just functional value found in Web applications such as finding out the weather forecast or the latest sports score, but, they also provide social and personalization value to the consumer," said Satterthwaite. "As a result, phonetop widgets will be a phenomenon similar to the way consumers personalize their handsets today with ringtones and wallpapers. I look forward to a lively discussion at CTIA WIRELESS with many of the leaders in this space.
During the panel discussion, Satterthwaite will discuss views on the increasing popularity of phonetop widgets among both advertisers and consumers. He will also discuss "do's and don'ts" of phonetop widget deployments, how companies can leverage industry standard authoring to enable the world’s Web developer community, and will share real examples of killer widgets from global brands including MTV, Facebook and ESPN.
